TOC 101

This is bar none the best tutorial I’ve ever come across explaining the Theory of Constraints.

The job of management is to determine the capacity of their bottleneck, fill it, and then allow no more projects to begin until one is completed.

I had an experience this week that reminded me how undervalued – but necessary – knowledge workflow management can be. One of my employees is detailed to our head office and is making a name for himself by clearing 600 overdue tasks in process. Much of it was completed, a lot of it could be cancelled, but there were a few nuggets in there that had been lost in the noise.

As Tiago points out, we are often constrained by the paradigms in which we exist. Luckily, they can be changed.
